Healthcare

Accessible Transparent Healthcare

Healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Yet, medical debt is the leading cause of bankruptcies in the United States, and more than 40% of Americans have some. The debt owed for medically necessary treatments forces them to cut spending on food, education, or utilities. Even worse, many are forced to forego other necessary medical care, prescriptions or to take on even more debt, making it nearly impossible to save for college, housing, or retirement. No one chooses to be sick and no one deserves to be riddled in debt as a side effect. I will work to expand access to quality healthcare, lower prescription drug costs, and address health disparities in our community. Making healthcare and insurance policies easier to understand and navigate will be my top priority. I will propose and advocate any and all legislation that will reduce the anxiety everyday Massachusetts residents face when they receive medical bills after suffering through an illness.
