Abortion Rights & Planned Parenthood

Parenthood at will.

As a candidate for state representative, I firmly believe in the fundamental right of women to make decisions about their own bodies. Abortion is a deeply personal and private matter that should be decided by a woman in consultation with her doctor, free from government interference.

Supporting abortion rights is essential for ensuring gender equality and protecting women’s health and autonomy. Access to safe and legal abortion services is a critical component of comprehensive healthcare. It allows women to make informed choices about their reproductive health, plan their families, and pursue their educational and career goals without undue burden.

I am committed to advocating for policies that protect and expand access to reproductive healthcare, including abortion services. This includes opposing any legislation that seeks to restrict or undermine a woman’s right to choose. By standing up for abortion rights, we uphold the principles of freedom, privacy, and equality that are the cornerstone of our democracy.

Together, we can ensure that every woman has the right to make the best decisions for herself and her family, without fear of judgment or legal repercussions.

Access to safe and legal abortion is a fundamental right. Planned Parenthood plays a crucial role in providing essential reproductive health care, including abortion services. By supporting Planned Parenthood, we ensure that individuals have access to comprehensive reproductive health care, education, and resources. Let’s champion reproductive freedom and empower people to make informed choices about their bodies.

Like most people, I know what Planned Parenthood is and am aware of the surrounding controversies due to some of the services it provides. However, the true gravity of how important these services  are and the life altering impact their accessibility can have was somewhat lost on me, as I'm sure it is for most like me distracted by the latest Trump scandal or threats of AI or spread of misinformation. As a result, we often lose track of critical services, such as Planned Parenthood and Public Libraries that are being gutted and defunded in a concerted effort by some to restrict access to such sources of life changing information and services for so many.

As a father of a three year old girl, I am glad to live in a state where I feel her rights are safeguarded, but am also fearful of the fact that this may not always be the case, as evidenced by the Dobbs ruling. Realizing the critical role planned parenthood plays in our communities, we cannot be complacent, even for a moment, in protecting Planned Parenthood and its core principles. Otherwise, we risk an entire generation of girls and women who will ultimately pay the price. That is not the sort of future any parent would desire for their child.

And though my campaign platform is focused on prioritizing Education and Housing affordability at the state legislature, it really boils down to one basic principle: improving quality of life for the next generation of Massachusetts residents. There is no doubt in my mind that Planned Parenthood and the services it provides has significantly improved the quality of life for tens of millions already and will continue to do so in the future. While Planned Parenthood always had my support in my mind and thoughts, it will now have a vocal advocate as well as one willing to take action to preserve and protect an essential services provider against the threats perpetuated by short-sighted people amongst us. I will do this, not for an endorsement or for votes, but so that I can look my daughter in the eye and tell her I did what I could to protect her rights and improve her quality of life every step of the way.
